The beautiful historic village of Montacute, famous for its wonderful Elizabethan National Trust House opens its doors with a rare glimpse of cottage and country gardens open to the public.
Our gardens are all completely different in size and content. Some garden owners will offer demonstrations, refreshments, tell stories about the development of our lovely village gardens, famous Hollywood blockbusters filmed here and history of the village.
The Village Hall welcomes you for morning coffee, light lunches, cream teas and homemade cakes, eat in or out overlooking the wonderful National Trust Orchards and House Grounds.
In the past the Village has hosted the filming of the BBC Drama Wolf Hall and Channel 4's Hidden Villages with Penelope Keith. Other gardens of Montacute are famous in Hollywood as films including Sense and Sensibility, and Johnny Depp's The Libertine which were all were filmed here.
The restored Dovecot in the Abbey field built originally in 1750 with rare double nesting will be available for public viewing.
Sorry - no dogs other than assistance dogs in the gardens please.
All proceeds go to the Village Hall Restoration Funds.
Cost: £6.00 for both days, children are free.
How to get event passports: Tickets and maps can be obtained on the day at Abbey Farm and the Village Hall.

Directions: Montacute Village is just off the A303. Abbey Farm (parking and tickets) is just up from the Kings Arms Restaurant and St Catherine's Church. The Village Hall is situated in the centre of the village in Wash Lane with disabled parking and accessible facilities. Please follow directional signs found once entering the village.
