Whittington Open Gardens
This event ran in 2017 but we don't yet have this year's details. When we get them, we'll add them, but in the meantime we include below event information from last year to remind you about the event.
Whittington, south-east of Lichfield
Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th July 2017
11.00am to 4.00pm
This is a fabulous opportunity for garden enthusiasts to see some of the beautiful gardens in this Staffordshire parish, with gardens scattered around this lovely village. Most are within easy walking distance. You can hop onto our free minibus to reach the outlying gardens. From large to small, every garden has a beauty and character all its own.
Several of the featured gardens have won Bee Friendly Garden awards, so there will be lots of inspiration to be found if you wish to attract wildlife.
There is also the recently established community orchard to explore, which contains a host of rare and regional heritage fruit trees, a wildflower meadow and a bee-friendly garden designed by local Brownies.
Woodhouse Community Farm has an amazing ancient walled garden for visitors to discover and sample the lovely produce.
There will be craft stalls in some gardens, some will have live music too, plus a flower festival in St Giles Church, and art exhibition by Lichfield Society of Artists.
Refreshments will be served all day in Thomas Spencer Hall - morning coffee and cake, lunches, afternoon teas.
All proceeds will be shared between village environmental projects and St. Giles Church.
