Southover's annual Open Gardens event provides a unique opportunity to visit some of Lewes' most secret hidden gardens. There will be a wide range of gardens to see, including five new entries, from large traditional English to small more modern interpretations.
Highlights include the garden hiding behind an Edwardian terrace in Grange Road, originally laid out 100 years ago by the Martin sisters as a landscaped garden in the style of Gertrude Jekyll; it has now been restored over the last 25 years.
Cream teas available.
Proceeds to Southover Bonfire Society.
Cost: £5.00 adults, £3.00 concessions, accompanied under 16s free.
How to get event passports: On the day from 6 Grange Gardens; in advance from Lewes Tourist Information Centre, St. Pancras Stores, and The Swan and The Gardeners Arms public houses.
