Birchover Open Gardens

approx 20 gardens open Birchover, near Matlock, Derbyshire
Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June 2026
12.30pm to 5.00pm

Birchover is situated on a hilltop, beneath Stanton Moor with its Nine Ladies Stone Circle. Come along to this beautiful Peak District Village and wander around our gardens.

St. Michael’s Church, a Grade II listed building, circa 1700, plays a big part of the Open Gardens weekend. This historic building with its Ashford Marble font, elaborate carvings and stained-glass windows is a focal point of the village.

The stained-glass windows on the south side of the church were made by the late, internationally acclaimed artist Brian Clark, when he resided in Vicarage in the 1970s.

This year the church will be decorated with flowers from a local florist and will also host a display of black and white postcards of local and village scenes.

There will be stalls selling elderflower cordial, jewellery, and local masonry and wood turning crafts. Paintings of local scenes, wildlife and wildflowers will be on show to view and purchase.

Traditional, home-made cakes and teas will be served in the Village Hall, opposite The Druid Inn.

Dogs welcome.
