About Us
The problem we faced was a simple one - how do you find out the dates of Open Garden events in your area and so avoid a clash of dates? Even the village next door proved hard - it might as well have been the other end of the country. Until posters started to appear, or notes in the local newspaper, event dates and times were unknown - all very uncertain. Solving the problemSo how do you solve the problem - well, you're looking at the solution right now. A website aimed specifically at the smaller organisers, those volunteers who bring together gardeners and gardens, plant enthusiasts and hobbyists, Hosta lovers and Pelargonium fanciers - the melting pot of Middle England that is Open Gardens.
Keeping it simpleThis website should be a valuable tool to help your efforts both in publicising your own event and finding out about other events near to you or indeed elsewhere in the country. We've tried to design the site to be simple to use, and simple to update. We love plants, not websites, so the less time people spend in front of the screen, the better. Please check our listing to ensure that your event is in there. If it isn't, please add it, or contact your local organisers and get them on board. If you're not included, people won't know about your event! Keeping it personalWe are always keen to hear feedback, so feel free to contact us at Open Gardens. We are neither a large company nor a corporate body - just some keen amateur gardeners who occasionally swap the potting shed for the keyboard. If you contact us, please be patient - we don't have teams of people at the ready, but we'll try our best to get back to you promptly, although in the summer months, we may well be out in the garden.
